The original hipsters, The Strokes, have returned from a five year hiatus with their newest release Angles. It’s been an interesting break for The Strokes: both lead singer Julian Casablancas and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr pursued solo efforts, along with a rehab stint for the later. Drummer Fabrizio Moretti had a fairly public relationship and [...]
Perennial sage indie rockers, Okkervil River, are slated to release their new album on May 10th. But you don’t have to wait to get a taste of the new joint. On the band’s website, okkervilriver.com, you can download the single, “Wake and be Fine.” And if you are anything like me, you are super excited [...]
Those not familiar with the band …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, may think that it’s kind of a ridiculous band name. Those same people may also think they are some kind of over-the-top death metal group who’s members have names like DeathHead and Trog. Well the former are kind of [...]

Being this site’s music guy, you would probably expect me to give my predictions and analysis on this year’s nominees. But that just aint gonna happen. And I’m not going to apologize for that. Yeah, that’s right. Couldn’t care less. I have absolutely no interest in watching or following the results of this bullshit farce [...]
For about an hour today I thought it was Spring, but the illusion was shattered as I stepped outside to shitty skies and 39 degree humid air. I don’t have many regrets in life. Well… that’s not true, I have a conscience, and therefore some real regrets. But the only one I care to talk about today is the fact that I just discovered Wavves’ new album, “King of the Beach.” It was released back in August, and had completely flown under [...]
